The bike and preparations infor the Cannoball 2012

Images will come later . . .

Ill guess our American competitors following the "dead" blog have relaxed and guessed Brooken Spooke Racing Team will not show up, but they are wrong...

I have stopped smoking, ill hope i will start do some training. But now to the bike.

I did rebuilt a 61" Harley 1926 engine to a 86" stroker racing engine. I assume it has about 40hp at 2500 rpm, soon i will run the bike in a dyno for optimal carburetor tuning and will show the effect diagrams here. The bike can make a 100 feet burn out even with sidecar mounted and power slide easy on asphalt in booth directions.

For now i still have the modern 4 speed gear box (will be changed to 3 speed for Cannonball). I can easy start on the second gear with full loaded bike and sidecar, approx. 450 kilo. And the top speed is around 120 km/hour. I will now go down from 52 teeth to 48 and ill guess i will get 10 more kilometer top speed.

I have run the T&O stroker engine for over 6000 kilometers with no larger problems. Except is did by mistake broke the rear cylinder rocker house thread wall. I therefore bought me a used cylinder what did only run for 200 kilometers before it exploded by a missed crack. The cylinder was one of many bought from a dealer in Sweden and in 50% of the cases the cylinders are real bad and useless.

I have now repaired the first cylinder and built up the engine again from bottom and up. During examination of the bottom part of the engine i did find some problems by the left side bearing racer what was loose and had started to turn in the engine case. I assume this was caused by the flex in the tappet of 0,025 mm. The clearance of the bearings was only 0,012 what caused the flywheel to offset rotate the bearing. A new bearing and rollers are installed with the correct clearance of 0,02 mm and a flex slightly smaller.

The rod was also broken in the cylinder explosion due to some bends when it was forced up and down without a guiding cylinder. So therefore i also got new rods, tappet and rollers. The bottom is brand new again and the cylinders and piston is nice and easy used what mean i can give full throttle now from day one.

Changes on the bike in for Cannonball

I did switch the rocker towers some 2000 kilometers before tor Chucks offset rocker arms, these arms gives not only some more horse powers it also delivered some real nice bottom toque what is very useful with the sidecar bike. I will keep them on the race and hopefully they will be accepted. If not i can easy change in 30 min to the old pairs what i will bring with me.

Other changes what will be made on the bike is that i will take the gas light and the magneto out and switch for a generator magneto and electrical light.

I now runt the bike on a Kehin CV 40 and its a dream to have torque at any rev in comparison the on off function of the Linkert. Anyhow i will change for a M41 Linkert in for Cannonball. I will still use the 20012 fat boy rear disc brake and 1931 Harley front brake. I may change for 19" wheel from the 18" i run now. This 2000 kilometer "final test run" will give me the answers.

I will bring with me booth the 4 speed gear box and the CV carburetor so i can switch after the race and go south to LA for a visit at the Venice beach and Hollywood for some partying together with the team and others.

The final test
The plan now is to run this engine even harder then before some 2000 kilometers more and then take the engine apart again for a last examination and if needed a step up in od roller sizes in the left engine bearing and rods. I will also replace the pistons rings and grind the valves.

The Sidecar
For the sidecar its more of construction job to be done. I will rebuild the wheel bearings from balls to rollers. Ill plan for a low aero dynamic special made wooden coffin with a basic kit of electrics, batteries and computer related systems in the bottom. Also tools and parts and a gas tank with pump system will be constructed. Also i will add some pack bags for tent, clothes toot brush and cooking stuff. Some kind of communication central will also be mounted.

Partners & Sponsors
We are now in to a busy period of finding partners and sponsors and paint the bikes in the sponsors suggestions. Also team clothing and has to be designed and produced. We will also print some information tablets for expectorators during the trip what shall suite the partners and sponsors.

Web cam and webpage
As soon all partner and sponsor materials are finished we will open the webpage to entertain and inform visitors, sponsors and partners worldwide 24 hours a day from at least one of our web cams in our team´s efforts to win the trophy of Cannonball 2012.

Shipping or Flying
We will decide if we shall fly the bikes owner or ship them in the last moment possible du to the fact of depression without the bike in almost 4 weeks if it shall be shipped. Hopefully we fly the bikes and can be on the same flight just kicking of the box and start he bike up some hours after landing in NY.

Ok for now on there will be more activities around the Cannonball race and on the blogs. So keep coming back for more information and fun.
